VoIP Essex - Put simply business VoIP is making a voice call over an internet connection. (Voice-over-Internet-Protocol). Many of you may have already done just that if you have been on a video call on your PC, Laptop, or tablet.   Ensure that you have the correct bandwidth

Why is Bandwidth important?

If you have used Zoom/Teams or made any call on a laptop you may have noticed colleagues or meeting participants freezing, dropping out, or sounding distorted on the screen or during a call.  This is often due to 'bandwidth' issues. The internet doesn't handle browsing, video, and voice simultaneously without proper control or Quality of Service (QoS). While you might get away with bandwidth problems when making the occasional video call at home but for businesses, 'bandwidth' can be the difference between a seamless experience for your staff and customers or a terrible experience that could potentially cost your business customers.

Traditionally, your business telephone system 'box' was screwed to a wall and then cables were taken from the systems 'box' to each desk.  A VoIP system (also known as Hosted/Cloud) simply means that the 'box' is already in the data exchange connected to your building by an internet connection, and then cabled to each desk from a free router.  Basically, all the cards, connections, and software boards are no longer in your business on the wall but are now located at the exchange 

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

1. FREE Telephone calls:  Most of the hosted system suppliers will include an element of free calls, some businesses will NEVER pay for a call again.  If you are not offered free calls, don't buy!.

2. Connect all your premises as ONE:  You can connect ALL your premises and home workers to as one business because there all be connected to a VoIP exchange.  You can take and transfer calls from any building just as if you were in the same building.  You could have ONE operator that will take all the calls and send them to each building seamlessly.  You will be ONE system, regardless of the location of each building or homeworker.

3. You can work from anywhere:    You can access your system with any Wi-Fi connection and receive calls (on your mobile, PC, laptop) just as if you were in the office.  You can also have a softphone (app on your phone) that works just like your desk phone and your caller will never know you are not in the office.

4. Disaster Recovery: If you cannot get in your building, just log onto your portal and reroute your inbound callers to ANY other number.  Never lose a customer call.

5. Get a London, Manchester, Paris, or Edinburgh number:  Because your old telephone system was connected to your local exchange it was restricted to only using a local number (or pay BT a fortune to get an out of area number).  Once you are connected to the 'cloud' you are on the same network as the whole country, so you can have any number you want and it will route to your building.

6. Accounts:  These are not capital purchases (capex), these are monthly rentals (opex) just like your internet connection.  Loved by your money controllers or FD's because its a fixed monthly cost (tax deductible) and they don't have to find a lump sum. (added to free calls and these systems can save money)

7. Maintenance: You don't get visits from your maintenance company, or need a maintainer company, your 'box' is maintained in the data exchange and upgraded automatically.

8. Growth:  If you need more handsets or are opening or moving into an additional building you simply plug in a phone to your router and it becomes part of your existing system.
